IMPROVING THE LACK OF ATTENTION OF LEARNERS IN THE CLASSROOM.

“Excess of information is directly related to lack of attention." (1977-Herbert Simón).

Teachers find it tougher every time to make students be  able to focus attention and quit another issue, above all when it comes to teenagers and kids.

Focused attention improves learning and academic performance.

When we get to keep apart from distractors and we focus on learning, our brain relates the new pieces of information to the ones we already keeps and allows new neuronal connections.

Children repeat names and vocabulary we teach them when they are able to pay attention, otherwise they will quickly forget.

Speaking to kids using a doll or a puppet is a useful method to get kids to pay attention and not to be absentminded. (Focus-Daniel Goleman)

At a congress held in Silicon Valley, the speaker asked how many attendees were "connected" or checking their portable devices. Result: 78% of attendees. The speaker called that state ”continuous partial attention”. When this state is extended in our mind, we may eventually lose the capacity of whole capacity of concentration and tasks attention-oriented will be harder and harder for us. To improve the lack of attention we should devote some time to portable devices every day and use the rest of the time to ignore them and focus on other activities.
